AR (Adapt Resettlement CIC)
We help resettle the vulnerable homeless or those threatened with homelessness. Tenants must be over 18 single and eligible for benefits.
We accommodate lots of people but generally our tenants are often those who are coming out of prison, mentally ill or mentally vulnerable people, people who’ve come out of care or out of the services and who need some kind of support. Often those people will have some kind of behavioural challenges and find it difficult to live with family. Sometimes they have no family and some of our tenants have come out of care or young offender institutions and literally have no support network at all. Our aim is to get them back into society and help them obtain health care, support and treatment for mental health issues, addiction, education or to help them back into work.
Many of our tenants only need to stay with us for a relatively short period of time. Others are supported for much longer, but everyone is individually assessed at the outcome and given a support plan which is developed and created by the tenant and the support worker.
Our purpose is to drive lasting change and improve the lives of these people, many of whom are isolated, vulnerable and often lonely. They are also at high risk of re-offending or being pinged around the NHS with a variety of health conditions which are made worse if they’re not supported.
We use a range of types of accommodation, but we find 2 or 3 bedroomed houses the best and many of our tenants find lasting friendship and support for other members of the household.
